I wrote a comment but lost it! So again I try. Of all your poems, this one strikes me most deeply. My eyes misted upon reading it. Beautifully told. The last word could also be 'flame.' As an aside, once when I was very little, there was a fire in the fireplace, and I liked watching the flames. My mother wouldn't let me stare at the fire...

Such incredible imagery, as always. I miss you, my friend...miss reading you but the time will come again when I will have the time (I'm sneaking this in at work right now, nervous as a cat!). I only find regrets sad when they have truly affected the happiness one has experienced...and only in the heart of our heart can we truly answer that.
