Yes it does take a time unless one gets a kitty. Once though they trust it is for keeps.

Your Bliss is a good age, but perhaps like we all are doing, she will live much longer than is usual. Thank you,

Oh, how I loved this!  I'm looking at my faithful Bliss as I type this....12 years she's owned me, 12 years I've had her devotion.....living alone as I do, her loving strokes of her cheek against mine fill a need I never know I have until she is purring and "hugging" me, crawling up to get as close as she can.  Sadly, I've begun to think, too often, of the day she won't be there.  I always remember, a dog will do anything for a pat on the head...and I love dogs, too....but a cat - a cat must want your affection because s/he judges you truly worthy.
