Very sad the girl,we are lucky I suppose that the earth is relatively quiet at this moment in time. No one knows of the big things that will happen one day.

It's heartbreaking! And, unlike many other disasters, there is virtually no defense! By the way - did you notice there are relatively few black dots in Canada?

There is a tremendous terror in earthquakes, at least on my part. Experienced a good-sized one on the San Andreas Fault as a child, and many more since then. Here in Cali, any earthquake is always compounded by the fear that it could be a precursor to "the big one." Again I say, Powers that Be need to find the funds to fully implement the Early Warning System, at least in key areas. Whatever money is spent will be well worth it in the potential amount of lives saved.

Looks like we should all go to the Antartic. The rest of the world looks pretty shaky to me. We get little tremors here quite often and we had one once that we thought was a big gun shooting. It was just a big bang but they said it was a deep earthquake.
