This is a big issue here in America and one that Maryland's General Assembly was dealing with as well. Here is to hoping that things change.

Don't get me started on this one. I ain't my nicest, sweetest self

when I get to thinking about equal rights issues and the obnoxious control and persecution of women under the guise of "protection."

I believe that women will eventually replace men in all responsable positions. Mainly because the men are making one heck of a mess out of it...their egos keep getting in the way.

It does seem to be taking a long, long time to right things, doesn't it.  Think we'll ever get it done?

Yes they should go in for engineering and positions that still need filling, but are not at present encouraging females to enter. It is no good going to college and studying art and history if when one leaves one has to work in a supermarket. I don't know if you remember. Well her name does not matter, but she used to write to me and she told me once that she worked in a factory, the only girl amongst two hundred men. They did not make it easy for her either, well you know how some men are. Anyway she did alright and she said she even wore Hot Pants to work, I think that took nerve.

Excellent stand, Kabu! I'm in total agreement..

Clearly stated observations.  Interesting factual notes too; had no idea the U.S. lagged so many years behind in voting rights but I'm not surprised. Priorities as far as pay show where the powers-that-be put their interest and concern - overbearing, elitist capitalism as opposed to capitalism that is workable for and beneficial to - everyone. And the numbers of single mothers who can't afford safe, decent child care so that they can work and support their families are unreal and ridiculous for a supposedly civilized society..yes, I know there are single fathers too but in my experience, a man who needs help with childcare has a much easier time finding something affordable, reliable and secure than a woman in the same straits.
