CCT
You are admirably successful in capturing a whole era through a boy's experience, yours, I'm sure...

Re: Re:
I agree I am reading a small book with the main points of Charles 1st life. So sad. He was a very cultured man and collected and commisioned wonderful paintings and beautiful art works. he had been brought up to believe in the divine right of Kings. The puritans with their holier than everyone else attitude were a pretty bloody lot wanting their own way just as bad as every other fanatical lot.

Re:
Thank you RPresta. I once wrote a piece, it was little bit about my Mother in the First War. Only twenty years elapsed, tragic really. Of course it is the women who suffer more. A bullet leaves no memories for he who receives the final sentence.

C.C., this entire write was just so fascinating. I loved it! I had never before been able to fathom just what it was like to have been a child or young person during that war until you wrote of it. And from the POV of your memories! Most excellent. It could all be a movie, I think, as told by you as a boy.
