Greek people really know how to enjoy family and friends getting together. A meal with many small delicious dishes can continue from midday till midnight.

I was never a kid who liked food. I hardly ever ate anything. My parents would be so upset. I didn't even enjoy sweets much and I am still picky about what sweets I like BUT, the sweets I like I really like. I agree totally with your last sentence.

Justi

Togetherness and feasting have belonged together at least since the dawn of humanity, probably even before homo habilis well over a over a million years ago! But why do most people like sugar? There seems to be a genetic link, but I have no clue why...

I suppose in early times food was plainer Justi. Today folk eat stuff that is loaded with sugar to enhance the taste. Of course in the early years we kids endured sweet rationing

which although rather painful at the time probably did more good than harm. Actually it was not really lifted completely until 1950 I don't know why it was in force for so long.

Coming together for a great meal is a family and friend thing here too. Beats shopping in my book anyday! I'm with you, Justi!

I have a lot more trouble with killer salt than killer sugar.
Good post.  I too loved the sharing of food with friends and neighbors
and at church functions.
