Funny to think that my Uncle emigrated to Australia, he thought he would have fun shooting rabbits, They are making a comeback here, once we all loved a rabbit stew, but the disease put an end to that. Also to the end of rabbit skin gloves, fashion change.

I never get tired of seeing nature go through the seasons.  Something is always changing. I like that constant change.

Aren't they cute? Many years ago, we had a jackrabbit in my childhood yard. I planted clover for all the rabbits. One came and put its feet on my shoes. It was the same omne that played with Fluffy the Teddy Bear Squirrel (middy face), offspring of Sherwood, the legendary squirrel that a driver ran over love. I'm doing something with it on The Saturday Night Post tomorrow, my day off, but i helped the town political activist found the Garden Club, a charter member, and the first garden club librarian.  BC-A, Bill's Roost

Very interesting blog - I knew about the rabbits in OZ

and how they became a plague. I totally agree about how awesome the natural order can be, survival of the fittest, even though it can be disturbing. Funny, I was never afraid in the woods or on those long hikes along the creek when I was a teen-ager, even though there were some dangerous animals around. Have been more on edge in the city where the only life forms are people.

Kabu

A sign of the time! In Biblical times it was always a plague of locusts - these days it's a plague of rabbits! Doesn't have the same ominous sound, somehow...

Great post.  I loved that movie about the rabbit fence and the aboriginal children being taken from their parents and sent to school.  Is the rabbit fence still intact?
