We all have our foibles, I would always go for the brush free wash. I think you would go bonkers if you saw the little carts in the supermarket park. A hand spray and a rag seems to be the main form of cleaning. I stopped visiting that supermarket when the cleaners wanted $12 . Goodness knows what the charge is now,

I like your opinion of Phil, and how you've measured the value of his worth against others.  I'm curious to see how this plays out with the other two employees you've described.

Your observation that your Dad probably used the other two guys rather than Phil because they were 'familiar' is astute - people will often stick with the 'familiar', even if it's not to their advantage, simply beause they're uncomfortable with the unfamiliar...
