This is a wonderful post!  Such great imagery....and the wisdom....such wisdom, my dear!  It is such a different ride down the hill for each individual.  My mom was still sailing quite smoothly until she hit about 80, when the pain from one injury after the other piled up - pain messes up the skiis like nothing else! Sitting at the Thanksgiving lunch table with her and two sisters who also live in the assisted living facility, I was absolutely astounded to learn that one sister was 95, the other 93.  They could have easily passed for 70 year-olds, but both have macular degeneration; otherwise, they don't even use walkers or need hearing aides.  Also at the table, a 78 year old who could barely feed herself.....it's rocky out on the ski run, with lots of trees.....good genes and no falls really help.  Great post...hang tight, use your poles and just don't take unnecessary chances - we need you!

I expect your skis are well polished by now Justi , you would only need  a little push to become a champion.

I never did learn to ski, but I get the picture.  Well-written post.
