You are making me feel cold and it has been hot here today. I wouldn't worry about the leaves you are only making a space for the next batch. The outdoors is not your really your living quarters, so don't fret and save the leaves for compost.

The reality is usually less 'poetic', especially when the poetry is decorated with a thick layer of sugar coating, LOL...
And re your comment: I know Afghan history, but allusions to it doesn't quite fit here - the invaders (Brits, Russians, Americans) have left, even if there are still a few of the latter around. It's no longer about an insurgence, but about the resurgence of Islam - not totally unrelated, but still a different kettle of fish...

Right now, our temperatures are feeling like fall, too. Now we got to get this rain to stop, so we can enjoy it.

Sounds sweetly, cuddly warm on the inside..:)
Leaves falling everywhere here too, not much turning color though on the ones still holding on. Soon..I like the poetic take juxtaposed with the starker prose - unique and cool!

Even here in our sub-tropical south it's getting a bit chilly - where's all that global warming when we need it?
