my mom used to have a party line until about 15 years ago....people always listening in to her conversations.

Oh those party line busy bodies....nothing could be kept secret but this was so well written, why I could see Ollie with her apron up over her head and feel the joy and pain mixed together with prayers of thanks. Wonderful write dear Taps.

Wonderful scene.
I got into it so much so, that I have to say a smart party-line partner who wants to get the whole story would have kept her mouth shut... Great specifics and details you've put in - they just make the story come alive.
