Yes tell that to a mouse when a cat starts playing with it or a little injured bird. Or when you have sardines for tea. Please don't eat your goldfish. Nice photos.

Nature doesn't tend to be cruel,

just indifferent. I think I will go back in time and write a post on this topic a couple of days ago.

Don't trust that woman in the Spring of all times of the year. She is probably a plump fairy in reality and will dance you a spell untill your head is dizzy.
