It is interesting reading about your Sunday School experiences. For me, it was mostly a pleasat time, although I got a point where I wanted to and did get to stop when I was eleven.

Churches has become big business enterprises
To me, church has ceased being the house of prayer where all members should have all things in common to meet one another's needs. For some reason, it just seems that churches have become big business enterprises, caring more about the number of members fore more resources than people souls and commercial as opposed to the house of prayer our Father designed and established

What can I say? There is always the good and the bad in any situation. I really liked Sunday School and the teachers, but we also had a couple of girls similar to those you describe. Even had one Sunday School teacher who ended up in tears every Sunday. Her name was Nellie Bearce. She was too kind and patient with the troublemakers who didn't appreciate her. At some point each week, those girls would break into her lesson and laugh and sing "Hi Nelly, Ho Nelly, listen now to me..." (a Stephen Foster song). I was horrified at their impertinance.

I am sorry Sunday School was so bad for you. It was one of my best memories as a child up until I went away to college. We did not have a mix of people so I don't know about those who did not like others.

Well done, Kabu!
Your relief at finally going home is palpable..:) And what school experiences you had; very engaging reading. I went to Catholic churches some Sundays (too formal for kids, imo) and Pentecostal churches others (too intense for my liking, lol)

Your description of the experience of Sunday School brings back to
my memory a similarly disappointing experience. We both did learn a bit about the "holier than thou" faction, the snobbery of small town girls and how to find our own way to soak up the spirit.

Kabu
This is really delightful - you should tell us more about those days! It also makes me glad that I never had to go to Sunday School, LOL...
