I remember when my great Aunt was trying to assess news from a solicitor in Australia. It took weeks before she received a reply.( I don't expect she thought of paying the solicitor.) Very worrying when one was trying to collar some money.

💕Mail order spread in the 70s, Internet in the 90s, apps in the 10s, creating junk mail. The post offices might provide social media that people can take their time in answering each other. It’s called letter writing love. BC-A, Bill’s R💮💮 st

The post office has changed a lot over the years in terms of what it does and how much business. it gets. Now I wonder if there will come a time when the post office is no more. If the post office goes, what else is safe?

What a really neat post, and you thought of everything.  I get so tired of junk mail and going through it, wondering what to shred or what's okay just to trash as is.

Wow, very interesting, Dear Kabu!

I only remember p.o.'s as being boring places as a child, lol. The people behind the counter always cut and dried business-like and the buildings modern and blank. I live in a small town now and the p.o. is old and charming, kind of carries one back to real  wood everywhere, scarred but polished, no a/c but big fans churning overhead and old fashioned paper weights scattered about behind the counter. The workers here are friendly and will joke and laugh with the customers.

Things sure have changed. We just lost home delivery! Now there's a 'community box' at the bottom of the street, where we have pick up our stuff. And Bennie has no postmen do chase any longer...As a matter of fact, I have heard my doggie was the reason they discontinued home delivery...
