Naut is right - in Frenc it means flea, and is pronounced pouse, and it's a term of endearment if you use it with a child. My little Miko is my little pouse.
BTW, I also love that color!

Now I will tell you how to make that colour Kabu you need a plate of stewed blackcurrants and half a pint of custard slowly stir the custard into the fruit and it will turn into a puce colour. You will have to experiment but I expect it will be edible if you add sugar and have not dipped your paint brushes into the mixture.

I do not recall ever having heard of the color puce. Now I imagine I am going to start seeing and recognizing it.

I just bought a skein of yarn that color to crochet a hat and scarf
set. The scarf is alternating stripes of puce and white, which brightens and enhances the pink - the hat likewise. I like that it's harmonious with other colors.
