I've read about bundling many times through the years....in several different settings, mostly Amish - where there was always a board between the couple; and it wasn't that uncommon in early settler's times here.....but the most unusual variation I can remember was some exotic custom that had to do with allowing consummation but only through a hole in the sheet or blanket? I cannot, for the life of me, remember where that came from but it always stuck with me because it was so dang funny!

I thought a pillow between two would have sufficed. Bundling sounds cozy, somehow I don't think it would protect a young ladies virtue for long, but I might be wrong.

Boy, that is interesting. I never heard of it but it's worth looking into more to
satisfy my curiosity.

I, like Pat, was taught there was a board the length of the bed between the two. I am thankful for gas or electrical heat and airconditioning.

I seem to remember being taught there was a board or blanket
between the bundlers - and thinking that had to be a very uncomfortable way to sleep.

Hi Naut.. do you remember a similar practice in 'The Patriot'? (film with Mel Gibson). Funny what the researchers/scriptwriters decide to include/not include.
