You don't need to buy their food for Mr. Graysome to loose weight. I didn't think he
looked to heavy in the last pic of him. When he was fried out on catnip.

love your descriptions of how different places welcome May
My vet told me that my dog is a bit overweight, but it wasn't a bad thing to know, because he's a 10 year old shepherd so he said a little weight loss can keep his hips from aching so that we won't have to go with meds.
Forget the vet nonsense food, just stay away from carbs in his food (like dry cat food) n he will shed lbs and be healthier for it. We do fancy feast now because it keeps my diabetic kitty's sugar regulated, but come to find out if we had done that all along instead of (expensive vet recommended) dry food he would never have been so heavy and his pancreas wouldn't have given up. Fancy feast is a little pricier than the standard cat foods, but still much much cheaper than the vet food and you can see the good health shining in his eyes and his silky coat.

I think the children still do a dance around the May pole, but it is usually so darn cold.
Anyway the birds are frantically searching for soft bits to line nests and the old cunning Magpie sits watching hopefully. I did think I saw a cuckoo, but I have not heard one for several years now, its a bit sad in a way.No Do,do's either.

When I was a child, on May Day, we made pretty little construction paper baskets and filled them with whatever flowers we could find, even dandylions, and would take them to the old people in our neighborhood. Now I'm one of the old ones, but the children don't seem to do that anymore. LOL

I'm sure you're familiar with the symbolism of the Maypole, aren't you?

It does not feel like May here in the Baltimore Area either. Fortunately, if the forecasts hold up, the temperatures will start to feel like it.
