Great question. My parents, sister and I do very little shopping at the megastores for Location D's convenience store.
It boils down to availability and cost.
Some flavors and sizes are not available.
When it comes to cost, some products would be bought in quantities that would not be sold in time before expiration dates. Throw in the gasoline discounts from the grocery store, and the tax exemption, the latter of which Sam's, the only megastore in the area will not do, and it is cheaper to buy from the grocery store.
