What's Oscars? Is that a new hockey team? And what's cleaning? Fortunately I do know what cooking is...enjoyed tasting some of yours...

I have the same kind of coping mechanisms for being down in the dumps, it always makes me feel so good to sit down after all the work and see everything so clean and shiny. I love love love to cook, too, and we just got a dehydrator so I've been making all sorts of healthy and tasty treats in there. I also like to paint and find that the colors help lift my spirits, even though I'm not good for much more than stick figures lol.

its strange I look forward to cleaning and washing too, but not much on cooking since I am alone.  I watched the oscars but I am not too familar with any of the movies.  I like Boyhood, but I guess by now you know who won.  All a surprise to me

I think many people have their own ways of dealing with being 'down in the dumps.' For me, I like to either get lost in a good book, or in a good hockey game! And to be perfectly honest, I've given up on the Oscars a long time ago. It's just one group of people's opinions anyway . . .

Since I didn't go to a movie all year, and since all the folderol around

the red carpet, the catty sniping of the "fashion police" just make me tired - I watched the usual 60 Minutes or re-runs of Mike & Molly. I do so enjoy your blogs about the domestic arts - especially your cookery. It almost smells good to think of all the baking and simmering... Hope the back gets more comfortable soon. I get whiney and bitchy when I have headaches or joint flareups and back pain is the worst...

Think I will give this a try.

Been on strike around here for about a week.  But it is good for me to move around and maybe some order is in order.  The chaos in my home reflects the chaos inside the two of us.

Normally very clean, as required.  By me of coarse, and I dont mind when it is appreciated.  Guess we missed that boat.  I  will try to appreciate myself.  My efforts for me may be more rewarding, even if he reaps the rewards.

thanks for the In-Spirit ation.

Needed it.

Got up at two am.  It will take a couple of hours to get done with things that will not disturb his sleep.  Maybe that will make the day go easier.

Where's yer toothbrush you can always do corners. I know washing soon dries indoors these days. A bit of humidity is not a bad thing, well within reason. The central heating sees to the drying. I find it more difficult to dry things in summer. Now I will give you a few hints on cooking. If you buy things ready to cook you can just put them in the oven. I now eat my breakfast porridge as a cake made with raisins, walnuts, glac'e cherries, treacle and butter. Yum.

Kabu

It looks like you're having a fun day, especially if doing the laundry is fun - ah well, to each her own! But I do agree with you on the Oscars circus - I'm neither watching it, nor even interested in who wins what!

I have had lower back problems. You have to stay loose. Actually the more you move

around the better. And I hope your using real maple syrup, not that fake stuff.

I find it very relaxing to clean and to hear the washer and dryer running. Mine tend to hum along.

The feast sounds lovely, Grandmummy...but, NEVER, EVER give margerine or butter to Mr. Pussy cat!  It is very dangerous to both cats and dogs and can cause pancreatitis!  I only know this because my beautiful boy Meeko caught it after he licked some butter off of Mummy Margaret's bread.

Now, about your Kieran...don't be sad he's growing up.  He doesn't want that for his Grandmummy!  Love you.

Kabu

Okay....I am now officially starving!  No way, however, do I feel up to cooking like that and I'm too far away to invite myself for supper....guess I have to heat up some chili from the freezer.  Alas, I have no strudel!  As for cleaning....bleh!  Washing...bleh!  I used to so enjoy the results of a good cleaning, but this place is such a disaster - moving into my mother's with her stuff/my stuff piled everywhere - it's just too overwhelming to do more than chase the piles of cat hair (4) and keep the kitchen and baths clean!
