I'll bet they were glad to get your type of blood too. Congratulations!! It may just end up as a special Xmas gift for someone needing it.

Many years ago, while a student, I was told I shouldn't/couldn't donate blood since I once had jaundice as a kid. It's a hepatic condition, though I no longer remember (actually never knew) the cause or any other details...There's absolutely nothing wrong with my liver or anything else, for that matter - maybe I should have a chat with my doc...

My wife likes to donate whenever she can, but I simply can't, suffering from Vasovagal Syncopy . . .

Well done Ciel... smile. I wish I could donate... unfortunately my liver disease when I was 9 (long before the advent of Hep B and C) prevent it. Nor can my children give blood, due to living in Britain during the late 1980s when BSE was around. Thank God it's been eliminated.

Re: Pat,
Yes, blood-thinners are still on the list of things that they won't take. Again, though, you might be able to donate platelets or plasma.

Re: CCT,
If you want to, maybe you can donate platelets or plasma, if not whole blood.
One of my kids had a problem with jaundice when she was born, because of a blood incompatibility: she has AB that didn't get along with my O, and had to be under special light and sunlight for a week or so until her liver kicked in.

I keep thinking I cannot donate because I take blood thinners, etc.
But good on you, to share the gift of life.

Well my blood is only suitable for monkeys.I did give a pint once. In fact I was told I could not give any later on as I had suffered from jaundice as a kid, but all the kids had it round here so I don't know if that is true. Anyway it was no use to most folk in any case.
