Sadly many are not very hygienically motivated. If one goes to the surgery just for a casual ailment. Instantly one becomes bombarded with other folks coughing and presumably contaminating everything they touch. Fortunately we must have a good immune system, if we were animals we would be segregated at the first sign of illness.
Evidently it does not appear that a hospital is a good place for a young doctor however I read in the newspaper only this morning that our normal doctors will get £100 an hour for working Saturdays. I don't know what the nurses will get though.

This post needs to be read OUT THERE - where the ordinary citizen can see it! You have so hit the nail on the head where Medicare is concerned!

One day ago ... The K.U. Med Center of Kansas City said it was testing a possible Ebola patient. Three hours ago...the K.U. Med Center Hospital officials said that preliminary tests show the isolated patient Negative on the first test. I'm thinking that perhaps that same might be true more often than not with people in U.S. showing that type of symptoms. You have written a very good and informative post here.

Wise words you got there, Kabu...It is a shame that the people who dedicate their lives to helping others are not getting the support from the powers that be...Here is to hoping that the powers that be take your advice.

I love this post, thank you for sharing it. One of our daughters is a nurse. I want her protected. We had a program when tuberculous was bad, 50 or so years ago people were put into asylums until they were healed. So were the mentally ill and it was so much better for both the patients and those outside than it is now. You are right it is a corporate money grabbing force behind the workers who are doing their very best.

Of course I have to agree with everything you've written, even without being an ex-nurse. We try to follow these events on the news, and it gets scarier and scarier every day! Yes, there are many in the health care profession who do care and do work hard and diligently. But there are also those crops of incompetants ( money-driven or otherwise ) that make it tougher for everyone else. I hope someone stays on top of this . . .

Get On That Soapbox
whenever you like! It's about time we wake up and realize that good healthcare and good old fashioned common sense is an excellent preventative.

It makes me think about how carelessly wego about our daily
routine - I can't tell you how many people I see who use a public restroom like at the Target or Walmart - and walk out without washing their hands. And very few actually wash the required 20 seconds (the length of time it takes to sing Happy Birthday all the way through). It's no wonder the flu spreads like wildfire.
