My water is so hard here that I have to change my hot water tank at least once every 4 years. I didn't know we were supposed to drain it either...wonder it it would help my case. Thanks, Justi!

we hire ours so i guess when it has been here a year we should ask about it since i could not endure the basement wet again. thanks for the tip honey lamb.

We are currently renting and our landlord did that just a few weeks ago. I stayed upstairs and passed on seeing the icky mess.

Thanks for the tip ( although I have a feeling my wife may have already known that ). My wife and I had the exact same thing happen to us a few years ago ( bursting water heater ). Not a lot of fun, as I'm sure you now know. Yeah, such chores can be a mess! Hopefully everything's back on track now . . .
