Re: Re: Kabu,
Mt fruit cake started from Scotland in the 18 40's and is still going strong....it likes a small bottle of Grand Manier....
one of those miniatures.

Re: FormerStudentIntern.
It would be easier if you turn the brownie over to the soft side. Of course, I didn't think of that soon enough.

Maybe I just should have made it bigger... Lots bigger! Eccles cakes, eh? As a fan of Christopher Eccleston, I'd try this. I like black currant jam.

Re: Kabu,
My mom had a fine recipe for fruitcake... two, really: one dark, one light. And they both soaked up rum wonderfully!

Re: Pat,
More oil in the glass dish would have made a lot of difference in the baking. The final result... well, it was always going to be kind of funny-looking. Foibulous!

Re: mneme
I suspect most of Charlie's friends know... or only care that it was tasty brownies!
The rest can look it up.

Re: Naut,
At least some results, if not delightful, are delicious... and some, if nothing else, memorable!

Re: adnohr,
It probably looks a lot better there, than in reality!

I never thought about that with candles going into a brownie.

I don't know what a ziggerata cake is or know how to spell it. I suppose you are still crumpet. I used to like lardy cakes but they just don't know how these days.I might make some Eccles cakes. It only needs flaky pastry and loads of currants. I am sure your's tasted good your birthday next month, how time flies/

If there comes a time for another brownie tribute cake, may I suggest
lining the pans with foil or bakers' parchment, letting them cool a bit before removal.
I always have better luck with my Betty Crocker recipes if I bake them "cake" style rather than chewy. They make it look so easy on the Food Channel. And the reason for the party, the tribute and fun was all the better for your part - (foible into fable, perhaps).

It sounds like a good effort .. and there are quite a lot of people who wouldn't know what a ziggurat was...!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Charlie! And I'm with you on that baking business! I do at times manage to surprise myself with my cookery (though even there I have had the occasional unpleasant surprise, LOL), but I won't even make an attempt at baking…
