Mom talks of friends, neighbors and relatives who died in some pandemic but I think this was in the thirties and in the states. anyway, glad you're enjoying the wildlife. poor Greysome getting his feet all dirty and wet. tsk. tsk. here's a hug.

Kabu...here's hoping your insurance company doesn't
try giving you any kind of a hard time over your basement damages...and I still remember as a kid our basement flooding out in the home we lived in.. (I was about 13).

Seems a lot of memories about WW1 floating around. Crikey I am writing this with the cr cr cramp. cramping my leg, and I have just drunk a bottle of bitter lemon with quinine as advised by the chemist. Don't think I can think of anything to say but a- oooh!Wish we had those little birds.

A cool photo you found there...I remember when my house had water damage from a faulty toilet sixteen years ago. It took some time to get everything straight...Three of my grandparents were born after World War I. My paternal grandmother was one year old.

Things were definitely a lot harder in those days, and it is a minor that your aunt ( and probably everyone else ) survived! Hopefully these cute little critters you've been attracting can help to take your mind off of such tragedies . . .

My big old Harley-riding sports loving son dearly loves hummingbirds
and works to keep the flowers they love. Also hangs feeders so he can watch them as he sips coffee at the kitchen table. Because of allergies he can't have a dog or cat in the house, so squirrels, rabbits, etc. are welcome.

A wonderful story, Kabu. Faith in prayer can do much, as we all know. My hummingbirds followed the mosquitoes to your area, I imagine.

For some reason we're not seeing many hummingbirds this year...And a de-humidifier might help speed up drying the basement...

Your humming birds are beautiful to see. My favourite of them all is the white whiskered hermit. Glad to hear the basement is drying out, but sorry for Mr. Graysome! Give him a pet and a kiss from me!
So glad your Aunt lived a long and happy life.
