I absolutely love gardens. I remember the scent of Spring after winter's bite. Actually, this post has made me feel really nostalgic. I'm fairly certain that's the correct word. But wow. Makes me want to read The Secret Garden again. I don't particularly care for snow, but there's nothing like a blooming garden in the freshness after the winter. I'm glad the snow seems gone for you guys, even if you're still a little shocked over it all. :)

Gophers are fun! And pretty soon they'll be part of the family...

What they eat is the grubworms that live in the soil. I never heard that
gophers dined on flowers before. But there all kinds of methods for getting rid of them - a garden hose attaced to the exhaust pipe on your car and run down into their burrow is one way. Pesticides to kill off the grub worms will send them elsewhere looking for dinner. Mr. Graysome might be available to secure your soil...

What you need is a walk cage but with wire all over and down into the edges about a foot into the ground.. Also you could cover that with fine net and be free of the mosquitoes. Or plant your baskets and put them on greasy poles. Of course there is a simpler remedy but I don't know what that is fortunately.

I have so much less patience than you. I shall not give an inch to a gopher or any sort of rhodent; however, it is your place and you have that right. I love the title, you have to be jober to work that one out. LOL Be blessed my clever friend.

There's that wheel again that makes me think you live in a really old
mobile home...
When we had gophers that came up under plants and ate the roots, we made 'pots' of hardware cloth so enough root was out of reach.
