My wife and I experienced that type of neighborhood comradery after Hurricane Sandy. We lost nine trees ( our yard looked like a WW II battlefield ) and our power lines were torn down, so we were without power for eight days! We were offered food, blankets, batteries and other essentials from several different neighbors. We coped, got through it, and were of course extremely grateful and always willing to return the favor should a similar situation arise. Can you imagine if all the countries and peoples of the world acted this way? Yeah, I know . . . unfortunately, a huge pipe dream if there ever was one!
