Families are families no matter what

Children are still the same as we remember when we grew up. They still look to older siblings to help and be close enough for that thread of safety. There is also the sibling rivalry which can drive parents to despair. I sometimes wonder if there is a way to allow for the differences while growing... Sign in to see full entry.

Reading, writing and our children

While volunteering recently I had the opportunity to remember the importance of ‘letters’ (being the alphabet). It was fun to use alphabet pasta to write the children’s names and then let them draw on the plates. Since writing (hand-writing) is no longer taught in the public school system in my... Mischief, busy and learning

It is always fun when time permits to step back and look at the growth both physical and intellectual made by children over a small amount of time. School is now out and if minds and hands are not busy, there certainly will come to some mischief. It has nothing to do with being a bad person,... Sign in to see full entry.

Families

Today many fathers are very involved in their children’s lives; more so than at any other time in history on a grand scale. And not only does this prove some challenging curves in the roles of the traditional families, but also in the nontraditional families. Whether your household is one of making... Summertime and kids

Summer is here and kids are so excited. Parents on the other hand are feeling a bit of pressure. We love our kids and want them to have a summer of knowledge. Perhaps not text book learning rather experiences which will teach them more about the world they live in. Learning about our world today may... Sign in to see full entry.

Simple fun

Our children do not know nor are they taught by anyone other than parents and family; the evolution of our modern lifestyle. How many of our children know that our telephone system use to be a system built on party lines. No not the, lets have a party and invite all of our friends, but the party... Our educational system

School is almost out and those teachers wanting to farm out the creatures from the science labs are trying to send those little creepy crawling things (no not the children, the room pets) home for the summer of safe keeping. And fully knowing that our young will be so excited to spend the summer... Sign in to see full entry.

Learning from our past

We have just had a holiday to reflect and remember why this holiday was necessary. Recently, I saw a movie (and perhaps it was so taken in by me, because it was the first I had been to movie theater in 4 years) which I truly believe should be shown in every high school around the world. This movie... Sign in to see full entry.

Family

Single and living away from family this day; let’s make some fun of our own. There is nothing quite like meeting up with others and spending some time outdoors. Bike riding, jogging, going to a movie (The Monuments Men - is a great movie for this weekend), go roller skating or drive to a tourist... Sign in to see full entry.
