It sounds like a lovely place. I'm glad you had a good time.

so glad you had a safe trip and it sounds like you managed to make lemonade out of lemons. construction on roads is awful and stressful. your sil was married 56 years, about the same time my neighbor was married and she lost her husband about 6 months ago and all she talks about is dying so that they can be together again. what does one say?

Montreal is always worth a trip, even with construction and annoying SILs...

Well, it still sounds as though you had a decent trip. I guess I can feel for Wiley's sister. No one wants to lose their partner, especially after all those years. And I too like to visit historical places, but don't seem to get around to doing it much lately. That particular list of "Places I'd Like To Visit Before It's Too Late" gets longer and longer too . . .

I really, really dislike driving where any kind of construction work is being done. It is like some kind of horrible obstacle course. I'm glad you all managed it safely, and some fun at the same time.

Good luck finding a nice drive anywhere with no detours or construction.
BTW I received a package from a dear friend two days ago, and it makes me very happy.
