That is one large space to camp in but I am not a camper. I did it some when the children were small because they loved it, but I like my own bed at night.

Well, some people don't mind the peace and quiet of isolationism. And Australia sounds a lot like Canada is one significant way. Did you know that 90% of the Canadian population lives within 100 miles of the Canada/U.S. border? No sense heading north into that icy wilderness . . .

I love it!  I would have done it in my younger days (anything below 50).  Now I'm spoiled.  I must see my nature, geology, and traveling the world on the telly while sitting in my recliner, and with a snack and cup of tea.....preferably in my jammies.

We used to camp with the kids - went all around the U.S. one summer

got snowed on in Colorado Springs, stood on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, looked at the hot springs and geysers at Yellowstone, saw buffalo, elk, bears, coyotes. Then we went to Oregon, through huge forests, down to the Pacific Coast, camped in the rain overnight and onto the beach at first light - we covered about 7,000 miles - without a stop at any amusement parks, no Disney, no Six Flags. The kids still talk about it at family get-togethers.

I would love doing that! Daily showers are vastly overrated anyway...

I did not know that Sydney has such a huge population...Those photos of the Outback are breathtaking. In Maryland, we do not have anything similiar to an Outback.
