Kabuiepie-;)~

I loved the chips and fish in England also in Pointe Claire Qc I went fishing with cousin Joe in the winter. We had no gnomes though.

Fish and chips. There was a little shop on a corner a block from

Seattle Central where I used to go from time to time, English style, served in newspaper, complete with malt vinegar. Yum.

But I have a feeling your fisherman has hooked himself a bit o' magic.  More, please.

Boo Hoo, I feel sorry for worms, perhaps a guilty conscience and do you know when one sticks a hook in them they go all prickly it is a funny feeling. I should revise this and use a lump of dough IE. Bread sgueezed in a sticky hand until malleable. Poor fish happy in his little pool coming up for grannies daily visit of ant eggs. Lovely story, but a pity that gnome couldn't pull a Chinese meal or two out of the pond if it was magic.

Kabu

A truly magical story! And I'm sure glad it wasn't an old boot...

Love the story.  You even make me want fish and chips for dinner, but the only fish in this place is smoked oysters in a tin (if that counts) and cooked salmon in a one-serving pack.

Ah, proper English fish'n'chips!

I had those in NZ, great large filets of fish I've never heard of, one is enough for a meal, along with chips of either taters or yams... and most essential, wrapped up in big sheets of nice clean newsprint!  I asked my English SiL if it was the same in Manchester, and he said they use actual newspaper, and yes, there is a bit of added flavor from the ink which is, after all, grease-soluble.

Why does no one in this country make proper fish'n'chips?
