You're right, it is a funny old world, but I'm glad of it.
What's that line? Something like "The world is so full of a number of things, I'm sure we should all be as happy as kings." I don't enjoy ice and snow at this age, but I remember the fun of building snow forts and having snowball wars with the neighborhood kids.

I bet the convicts had a shock, if they landed into heat near Christmas . I expect they thought days were lost on sea travel. Of course some may have slipped over the edge of the world. Your Dad would have been proud of your sons.

Christmas on the beach doesn't sound so bad! But then it occurred to me - I don't think you would have fireplaces and chimneys in Sidney - so how does Santa Claus get in to deliver his goodies?

Funny old world indeed....but interesting. Today our downtown was dominated by yellow tape around the 28-story city hall, and everyone evacuated as special officers with bomb-smelling dogs spent the whole day looking for what was threatened. They did blow up one package that they found. No one was hurt, but all the city employees have a lot of work to catch up on from time wasted waiting.

A funny old world it sure is, Grandmummy. And no, of course I don't mind if you keep my poem in your folder!
