I think I've found Brewer's Woods from time to time...
Though, I never was sure how I got there.
In the center, there is a dance floor of white and black squares where you can dance under the moon and the stars, and lit all around by fireflies...

There was a woods where I used to go
oh, but that was many a year ago. No magical beings there, but plenty of amazing things to read: deer tracks in the mud where they'd come to drink, the changing calls of the crows who kept watch and reported who was coming or going. Love your description and memory of Brewer's Woods.
