This reminds me of the home cures my Dad had for this and that...And they worked, but you must be very brave, or in soooo much pain to dare and try one.

My dad too had a bad back and that is why me and all three of my kids have a bad back and especially my son.

I'm with Pat-B on having the back looked after - I really don't think using your dad's method would be a good idea! Interesting about the sheep - we would shear on the farm too, but less quality wool.

Kabu...as I read this I felt the pain your dad must have felt

and heard the scrunchy noise as the shearers literally pulled his back into alignment...and I could hear the relief in your dad's voice once it was done...thank goodness for modern day chiropractic adjustments!....

Great story - and reminds me there's a booth at our Saturday

Farmers' market where the family sells home grown wool. It's not the fine Marino type, but they hire a pro to dye and spin it - and I buy a skein or two for my daughter-in-law who crochets. The back thing - Nurse Kabu - as you well know, has gone on long enough. Time to get a professional exam - maybe a chiropractic adjustment can do for you what the shearers did for your daddy...

Lovely tale Kabu and I have one or two merino blankets as good as new, I prefer them to duvets any day. My Dad used to get lumbago and holler with pain at times, we kids used to keep grumbling at him for making us jump.

It is interesting reading what all went into raising the sheep.

It sounds like it was interesting growing up on a sheep ranch.

Kabu

A  remarkable story, and an equally remarkable way of curing back pain! I'll remember that for the next time I've got that problem - all I need is find a couple of shearers or a least roustabouts to hang onto my legs...

Oh I love this post. You are right about Merino Wool. I did a line of Sweaters once of it. A woman in Kentucky hand knitted each of them and they did very well. We did not attempt to sell them in quantity but as very special, hand made designer sweaters. Why don't you go see about that back. You may have done something terrible to it while you and Wiley were frolicking around up near the highway. Will continue to pray, love you 2 so much.
