almost over night the video stores have all closed down everywhere...here Australia and it seems in the USA as well.

In this area we've been seeing a slight reversal of the trend, with the locals frequenting more and more of the little Mom & Pop places, be it for clothes, or gifts, butchers, or vegetables. Even our local book store can make a go of it, and the people even showed up at the Municipal council meeting to protest the arrival of another huge chain store.

That's probably true. I don't know of any video rental places anymore! And unfortunately, "mom & pop" establishments have been on life-support for some time now. It's a shame too. I think, deep down, people may prefer them to the big box stores . . .
