Your writing here is so fine that you do so make me want to come and sit on your porch with you and enjoy your yard and gardens and maybe tea with you and Wiley.  Now that is some writing because I do not travel anymore.

I find tranquility on a trail near my house.

I am amazed by your ability to be so happy.

But then I see you as a little girl watering a tomato plant .

Did you have a horse, It seems that you should have had one

in the field down yonder. Perhaps it is a mirage and they are sheep.

Be happy I am so pleased for you.

Aphrodisiac is the scent of cut grass or hay. Even the hum of the mower encourages a period of daydreaming on a summer afternoon. The woodpecker now and then, okay, until it decides to come knocking on my tin roof. Ain't life grand?

Always good to hear. The rainfall has been sporadic over here, so we have a few brown patches on our lawn. And our ears have also been assaulted by the sounds of woodpeckers! Maybe they are cousins of your woodpeckers trying to send Morse Code to each other . . .

I, too, can see all the beauty that God has made whether you are in Colorado, TX or Canada....   but only from the Heart do we find that "peace" and "contentment".  It's good to be home to the little things in life....such as my own bed.  Enjoyed your post.

Kabu, "The Book of the Dun Cow" is listed in Wikipedia,

a little background about the author, and a synopsis of the story.

Thank you so much for your prayer. I could see that peace and rest of sweet fields of freshly mowed grass. That is one big woodpecker.

I must admit that sometimes I forget to count my blessings. After all, I am still alive, in good health (mostly), have a wife and family that love me, and I live free, something most of mankind could only dream of, like we dream of heaven.

Good to read about a golden day and see a picture of a really racy looking woodpecker with stripes!

This was a sweet blog. Loved the woodpecker photo, too.

BTW, have you ever read a book titled "The Dun Cow"? It's an allegory using animals and a time when the world was the center of the universe and the sun went around it - Chaunticleer was supreme ruler of his domain, a rooster with 30 hens in his flock. I picked it up while at the library today - read bits of it between patrons. It's a classic and the style reminds me so much of your stories.
