I guess one could turn most things into nasties, if one wished. One should be able to view such things by choice not by dramatically having it assault the senses. A bad decision by the an editor apparently. I expect it all comes down to pay your money and we will support your cause.

We have been having this issue in my area as well, not so much with mail but with people showing those types of photos in their protests.

These types of tactics are nothing new, although I'm sure that does very little to alleviate your upset feelings! There are anti-cigarette TV ads running showing terribly graphic images of cancer-infected lungs, and some have people obviously suffering from smoking-related cancer trying to warn others. Supposedly it's effective. However, sticking those types of fliers into people's mailboxes is a terrible idea, on so many levels. Yes, it is emotional blackmail, but people don't necessarily have to succumb to it, nor put up with it . . .

Are you planning to contest these flyers publicly? This post would be a good start for a strong opposition, maybe as a letter to the Editor of the local newspaper where the flyers were disributed.

A very well-written post--actually so well written that it has me all upset.  I'll get over it, but I sure hope none of those flyers come here.

Emotional blackmail is what it is...

starting with calling themselves 'pro-life' when, in fact, we are all pro-life.  No one is pro-death.  But there are those who are pro-choice and others who are pro-no-choice.  And that is not emotional manipulation, that is fact.

Great post ...Ialways enjoy reading you. Yes a very divisive and emotive subject and i totally agree with you that this sort of canvassing is repulsive, as well as untrue. nursing, and working with neonatla babies at times, I have done that nursing until....I have held mothers and grandmothers in my arms...no one ever quite gets over losing a baby no matter how it happens...people don't even want to stop and think. haven't had any of that mail here I am thankful to say.
