Kabu
You have every right to be angry - any sensible person would be! I think a lot of younger doctors are missing that one key piece of understanding: The Patient Is A Person!
Maybe it's because they're fresh out of school and haven't yet put distance between the classroom cadavers and real life. Maybe they are too young to relate to the woes of aging patients. Or maybe this generation has lost its capacity for empathy.
Whatever the reason, it's shameful that you and dear Wiley had to endure this nonsense.

I am so very angry at the way Wiley was treated or more like not really treated by this young dr today! That is one reason I see a dr who is a geriatric (specialized in people over 60 yrs old) They care about us and whether we live or die! I will pray that there is a review by his regular dr and he will make some suggestions, changes, etc.

Hey, when you've got to get something off your chest . . . vent, baby, vent! And after reading of your incident, you have every right to vent! Unfortunately, a huge part of this particular problem, as you've said, is coming in contact with a "young person" still wet behind the ears who shows very little concern for others, compounded by the fact that they're in the medical field! I know everyone has to start somewhere, but really! Hope your GP comes back soon . . .

About the usual service you get these days Kabu ten minutes and then shoved out the door, About three weeks to see one's usual doctor and obviously a sit in is not going to change the status quo. I think self diagnosis is the way to go in future or go private and be ruined. Mind Wiley does not fall and injure himself, although I realise one has to take chances. Take care.

She's too young to have any grasp of your situation, apparently. Maybe a second opinion could bring clarity. Possibly he is on too many meds that are conflicting with each other and keeping him dizzy and weak. It seems to help some patients when they drop a few of their meds, but of course a Dr. should be involved to say which ones; natural alternatives might help with some of his conditions. I am sorry that went so badly.
Prayers go out to both of you for recovery.

If anything, that medical "care" was worse than none at all.
But maybe her notes will be helpful when his real doctor returns.

Blatant incompetence...again...but this time in a doctor, someone who is supposed to PAY ATTENTION, isn't that part of their oath? No wonder you are angry! But you are also right, in that we must do what we can to heal ourselves, because we know our body's actions more than anyone could.

I know how you feel - how damn frustrating! I would certainly speak to your regular doc about this one, which doesn't help you at the moment, of course! Would it make sense for Wiley to get checked out at the Hospital?

This reminds me of one time when she was around 80, my mother went to the doctor with her list of complaints and the young doctor's answer to her was, "Well, you've had a good long life." Mom never forgot his lack of understanding and compassion. She would often say, "It just burns me up!"

That is a shame how Wiley was treated there...Here's to hoping that things work out in the meantime until his regular doctor returns.
