I agree and my Dad was like your Grandpa. In fact the men on both sides of my family were like that, honest people with good moral fiber and charater.

Everything is upside down, my father who was born in 1897 would not believe his eyes and ears, he would think he was reincarnated in Sodom, or Gomorrah and would be right.

No acceptance or it will get a lot worse. It may be that we can only save our little corners of the world, the most responsive government is the one closest to us...We must change the schools, the towns, and the cities we live in...This is where it starts. We must get involved at the grass roots level.

I doubt if he would been been volunteering to go to Mars Justi. I think we probably have to accept the time span we are in. It could get a lot worse.

My dear Justi... I do admire your rare insight into the human spirit.  Your grandfather sounds like an amazing person and I can see a lot of that brave individuality... that saying it like it is kind of attitude in you.  I too had someone I was fiercely proud of as I was growing up.  In my case she was my grandmother... born in 1900, but though she as your grandfather spoke her mond and lived by her word expecting  others to do the same,  she was different than him in that she embraced change... and even more than that , she thrived with it.  I too have wondered what she would think if she were alive today about the way the world has changed... I am almost sure that rather than being confused she would marvel at how far we have managed to get and still stay in the same place.  She would smile and remind me of the saying  she so often said to me ( and which by the way...unknowingly,   Naut mention to me  in a comment in my post not too long ago :-))  She used to tell me "the more things change the more they stay the same"  I think your grandfather and my grandmother would have been great friends ... sort of compliment each other :-)  Be well my friend  xoxoxo

I wonder what some of my relatives who passed away at different points would think about today. I imagine they would not be happy either.

Yes, the new 'normal' is rather different from the old 'normal'...
