Yep, it was so cold before the stove got lit and the fire got going for awhile..those floors were so cold.

We had an old stove like that in our summer cottage...it was great for cool evenings or mornings..and yes, I can remember my Mom putting a kettle of water on it to boil for tea.

I just loved those old pot belly stoves that gave out such warmth
and one could boil the kettle on the top.
