Great idea! I doubt it will impress the believers though. In reference to Simone's comment here, I can remember when some of my Roman Catholic friends (we were school children at the time) told me they had to recite certain lines in latin for their religion, and had not the faintest idea what the words meant.

I agree... wouldn't it make a world of difference...

A very powerful proposal you got there...I enjoy reading Sinome's comments to your blogs.

Reading this post I at first was surprised :-)  then touched by my words "touching" someone I have come to admire and respect  so much and finally, as I read on, I found myself  amused by your creative "solution" to the disparities in the Quran and trying to think of verses in it that , by the parameters you were setting, would not be considered as coming from Satan... I could not think of any , but I am not by   an authority on , as you would say , old Mo's preferred book so,  I dug my copy of it out and I was even more shocked at how much of it would have to be discarded if one were to throw out the violence inciting lines and the derogatory ones... I don't understand how can someone that reads this book daily as they do does not see what it contains .  When I commented this to my Muslim friends they of course  were quick to point out that I was reading a translation and an "infidel" translation at that, probably changed by the translator to suit "their purposes ,  an unfair comment and probably not true but one that made me think,  that  in their defense...  and  as I know to be a fact, many Muslims (believe it or not) do not speak enough Arabic to understand  what they read in their prayer books and just read phonetically or even  repeat from memory the passages, not knowing or understanding what they truly mean. I myself can read Arabic but I do not have the vocabulary to understand what I am reading so I just sound it out .   Conveniently all Muslims  are required to do is to say it out loud to get the "credit"  What a crazy set up,  no?  All I know is that if we take out all violent and offensive verses the Quran would go from a book to a pamphlet... if that . ( Thought that did not sit very well with my friends lol   Be well Naut :-)  xoxoxo
