you can lose hours checking returned comments. I tend to reply once and visit posters (mostly because that's how I can tell when people are active) and I will read replies to my reply, but if I want to respond to it I will do so on the poster's blog. Otherwise I get too confused

i think. how i feel about comments - i like comments, in fact that is why i write, to see the comments rather than to get the clicks. when i read, if i do not have anything to say then i leave a calling card, but if i comment i have connected enough with the post that i have something to say about it.
i have my favorites here on blogit, for various reasons. and i try to comment, but sometimes i have nothing to say about the subject at that time.
now should you acknowledge my comment, well if you are reading comments that means they are important to you, and i dont think it take that much time to respond to the comments. it does not have to be a book like i am writing right now. if you write and dont care that i made a comment, then dont respond to my comments i really dont care.
i do what is important to me, i am here to connect to other humans through writing. to me it is not about how much i produce or read, i dont worry about how many blogs i can visit, but rather the quality of that visit. i may not always acknowledge your every comment, i am not perfect, but i will not ignore you either.
i still dont understand your poetry, and if it were in the poetry section i probably would not read it as i do not go to the poetry section. but i guess since it is a part of your post , that i do like, then maybe it is there so that i will learn something.
connecting with the earth, playing god in a small way, as in everything else in life some of it works out and sometimes not. but the feel of the earth on your hands and the thrill of the plant poking its head through the earth and growing into something beautiful is very satisfying.

When I joined Blogit, lo these many years ago in 2006, I decided that I would reply to any comment, whether friendly or unfriendly, whether intelligent or inane. Well, I kept it up for a while, but I had to drop it - it was just consuming to much of my time. Since then, I have occasionally replied to a comment - often in form of or as part of a post.

I never take your grumping seriously as it generally has an undertone
of fun, and I'm sorry at times to be so totally inconsistent about responding to comments. I do enjoy your adventures in gardening, reminds me I ought to be doing a bit more of it myself. Interesting how your climate and weather patterns are so much like those I remember from Seattle and the northwest coast. Much more overcast and dreary there - coastal weather I suppose.
