I knew it was Japanese but I have never had any. I thought it was more vinegary than like sherry. I would have to find it in the city not here. Thanks for letting me know.

The first time I heard of this I was so angry. A woman my age who never worked a day in this country can draw as much as 1/3 more per month than I draw.

I think I may have read about some of this before, and I almost wish I hadn't! The one aspect of ALL of this that pisses me off the most is the giving of SS benefits to immigrants who, as you've written, never paid a dime into it! What the hell is wrong with this country . . . ?

None of this surprises me! And re your comment to my recipe: I have to tell you that ricewine vinegar is, well, vinegar, i.e. vinegary, whereas mirin is a sweet Japanese concoction, possibly similar to sherry...
