Good idea to keep away until it's fixed. Maybe a few phone calls to the gas company may ease your mind a bit.

the joys of bureaucracy....i bet if it was one of the politicians or CEOs living along that route it would have been a done deal already...maybe the alternate is more scenic for you

It's always nice to find alternate ways of getting somewhere, but not at that risk! You're obviously better off sticking with your tried and true route . . .
