This is some world traveler! And I'm assuming that these were the days before "frequent flyer miles!"

I am glad to read that she made out alright. Those were a jammed packed twelve hours she had there.

Getting away from commercial group tours

and hiring someone local--My parents, in their travels, found that's the best way to see the real people, the real place.

I'm enjoying this trip... lets have more!

Am enjoying this trip vicariously through the brave lady! Doing some catching up - and was wise enough to read the former posts first - loved your cliff-hanger!

Phew!  You have pulled your American Grandbaby back from the edge of a cliff too, Grandmummy!  I have great respect and admiration for both of the religions you've mentioned here.  We could all learn great lessons of compassion, peace and tolerence from them both.

I would love to go to India and Thailand one day...to save the elephants and the tigers.

That turned out a lot better than it looked to begin with, much better than waiting at the airport , but a more conventional tour was probably recommended!

What a ride girl. This is the foundation for an excellent book.
