kabu, my son bought me an orchid for my birthday last year about this time, yes in a little but deep pot and it was blooming. they have those funny roots that hang out of the pot. when it stopped blooming i just continued to take care of it, what the tag said was three nice sized ice cubes once a week. Well here we are blooming again this year and the flowers are twice the size they were last year and they are still in the same pot. i will do some research on if and when i should transplant and let you know, but i will wait till all the blooming is done. Sam is right.

It's tough to know the right time to transplant but I think I would enjoy the blooms first because it's a shock to be transplanted! sam

Hello Gran, I was going to grow plants in a glass container once, but I never got round to it some of course are more suitable than others .the secret is the the composition of the soil and once completed the little garden does not need watering. You could probably find a book or look on the net (Growing in glass bottles or containers) I think they do it in India
Where is Ms Staightforward when we need her.?

A couple of handsome guys you got there. I don' think this will be bad for writers but it will be for publishers and book binders etc., I think we will be living out of our telephones soon... They will do everything but offer meals and beds. Sounds like a good dinner.

Great pic. They look so cozy together.
I just realized I haven't a flower in the place--not one.
I need to get rid of the rest of the chocolate hearts from VD and put some flowers in their place.

Your little orchard, blooming inside a jar, will not make fruit
because there's no bee to pollenize. I'd save it until the ground is warm enough before transplanting it out, or even into a pot you can shelter during next winter. And I'd enjoy looking at something blooming, a promise of green and growing nature...
