From my choir days in high school I remember singing an old Americana song or maybe British folk tune that made reference to the half-penny. No doubt that went our of circulation.
On another note, I chanced upon a New Zealand penny. It is small, like the American dime. I am holding unto it for novelty's sake.

yes we are right behind you, do you not have the machines in the grocery store where you can dump them in and they give you the amount that was in the jar?

Reading this has me wondering if the United States will follow suit.

Haha, here's another one, Dear Kabu! Good play on words...

I still have so many of those copper weights too; used to count 'em with the kids for math enrichment. Then roll up a bunch and cash in for treats..:)

If only they had thought to say now a penny is only worth five pence so we will call it a fivepenny piece. Problem solved keep minting.

A quarter for your thoughts!! Really I hope it works out to change. Nickles take up more space than pennies. I miss the old days though when under a million meant anything: McDonalds has a charitable plastic box to put extra change in.

I guess we have to start thinking in terms of a nickel earned is a nickel saved.

Isn't there something about giving two cents worth of opinion....
I guess that means it's still worth less than nothing.

Kabu
I'm going to hang on to my pennies! As they become rarer, pretty soon they'll be worth more than our dollar...

I recently read where a couple took their pennies and made a floor covering with them in their bedroom! It was rather cool, so now I think you and Wiley should do that with yours! LOL! The U.S. is talking of doing the same because it costs more to make them than they are worth! On second thought they will probably never get around to it since Congress likes to waste money! LOL! sam
