For me Samuel did what he had to do. Bullying will not stop until
unfortunately you show them you are not afraid and with a kid like this it is a no brainer that means being physical. Teachers often don't look at the cause of a child's behaviour. This time, this kid had gone too far. Samuel sounds absolutely delightful.

I don't have any children ( and thus, no grandchildren ) but if I did, I think I would tell them to always stand up for yourself, no matter what. I've come to learn over the years that a good percentage of the time, the bullying child has a terrible home life for one reason or another, and feels the need to act out against others to assuage their own misery. I cannot fault your grandson at all for reacting the way he did!

Having been bullies back in my school days, I know what Samuel went through. I wish him all the best.

RMy former landlords’ son went to karate school. Sometimes I could get a ride to or home with this class. The equivalent might be Indian nationality. However they were leading citizens. It’s different in this area love. BC-A, Bill’s R®st

I think he was just trying to show the other kids that is not one to be bullied and no one else is either, but that is a good question I dont know the answer to that

I'm with Samuel. Sometimes, faced with unrelenting ignorance, we do lose it, and I feel that we have not only the right, but the obligation to lose it if we are able to stop or interrupt the ignorance. That will maybe keep someone else, less able than ourself, from having to endure such a thing. Hopefully both boys learned something from this encounter; Samuel learned that sometimes you DO have to step up, and the bully learned the consequences of being mean.

Sadly there are always bullies Justi. The easy going kids get picked on and the weaker ones join with the bullies building their prestige. At least your little hero did not really hurt the lad some would have bloodied his nose. A lesson well learned I hope.

I have a feeling Samuel won't be bothered by that bully again.

Good for him Justi! I taught my son and now my grandsons to use their words to try and diffuse the situation at first when confronted with a bully. Humor is also a good tool sometimes, but other times there is nothing to be done but to give the bully a dose of his own medicine and I told them never to start a fight but always to finish it, in other words, do not throw the first punch but make sure yours is the last one handed out. Its a tough world out there sweetie and it would be wonderful if we could all learn to love one another but when kids are raised with violence and humiliating words at home , sometimes turning the other cheek to them only invites another slap. So don't be disappointed in your grandson but proud of him because he defended himself. I am sure from now on that bully will think twice before he bothers him. They are all cowards those bullies anyway. Be well xoxoxoxo
