I love to read of traditions from another part of the World...my family
weren't big on superstition altho. Mother would throw salt over her shoulder if some spilt on the table....I suppose there were a few if I sit and think. Like you I do my part for the finances and leave it to MY God to sort out. Never go hungry and always seem to be able to make ends meet. I am so grateful for that.

I have no superstitions, but I still avoid stepping on cracks and lines, throw spilled salt over my shoulder, and keep an eye out for black cats...Even on new years...Be blessed.

I grew up with having blackeyed peas and cornbread on New Year's Day, but I didn't happen to have any blackeyed peas in the place, so I cooked a pot of cabbage. I seasoned it up nice and spicy and it did the trick. LOL

The amount of tradition in the South does impress me...I know of a few people who are funny about age. My parents both handle it well.

I hear you. One must do as they wish without such superstitions but not without crossing the fingers.

Those were so fun. I have never heard of putting sugar in the champagne. I'll have to try that. I do very little champagne I get all bubbly quickly. I loved the one about white flowers and grapes. Lol.... just lots of fun. So good to have you home again.

I have no superstitions! Like Jimmy, I walk under a ladder any day, and never worry when the 13th of the month falls on a Friday. All I do is keep my fingers crossed...

Being the mutt I am, I am plagued by traditions and superstitions from all sides... but I find the Island customs are the more picturesque, like throwing a large bucket of watter out the front door at the stroke of 12... its supposed to rid your home of bad energy... you know, evil spirits and unwanted ghosts. I say "unwanted ghosts" because some ghosts you want to stay in your home, according to Island know how, and to accomplish that you decorate your home with the whitest flowers you can find... lots of them, in every room. Then there is the eating of the grapes ( Italian I think) one with every stroke of the clock. My grandmother used to cheat a little and get Persian Grapes , the tinny ones, which are easier to manage when you are getting to the tenth and eleventh stroke lol... There is the all american toast with champagne with the French twist of slipping a little sugar in the bottom of the glasses which makes it bubble like crazy! The tradition I love the most is the one I started when my kids were little... Charades!!! we play it while watching the ball drop in the TV and no matter where I or they are on that last day of the year we speak at 12, phone, radio, skype, face time whatever... I love that :-) Anuyway sweetie Be well xoxoxo

I must admit, I have absolutely no superstitions whatsoever. I'll walk under a ladder, open an unmbrella in the house, allow a black cat to cross my path, and I never throw salt over my shoulder should I accidentally spill some ( I don't really use salt of my food anyway ). I believe that, whatever is meant to happen, will happen. I try to control as many aspects of my life as I can, but as we all know, there are many things that are simply out of our control, and must be left up to the fates ( as it were ). My wife, however, is very big with "knocking on wood" to keep something ( anything ) from being jinxed! Personally, I never bother to judge anyone's traditions, superstitions or various rituals. If it makes that person happy, and somewhat confident, than who am I to tell them otherwise? To each his own . . .

HEY JUSTI! I applaud you for your conviction to your budget! I have not waivered from mine and it has paid great dividends, too! The most important thing is to pay on time otherwise one's credit score suffers terribly! I feel for the woman hooked on youth for we all age! But, if one does have a bit of that in them they will feel younger! Those with a fixation will never be satisfied! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! sam

How nice that you can enjoy giving pleasure to others Justi. I expect a lot of folk knock as few years off if they can get away with doing so. Well it does not hurt anyone I suppose, but one has to do it within reason, you can't be a fairy at forty. I supppose one can always be an Angel at any age.
