We are a Republic, not a Democracy. When Ben Franklin left Independence Hall after the Constitution was signed he was asked by a lady. "Well Sir. What kind of government did you give us". Franklin replied "A Republic Madam, if you can keep it". A Democracy would have feel into Tyranny years ago.

I watched a documentary about the airships.  I am optimistic about the airships. The LEMV looks interesting as well.
