Re:
Hello Taps... I suppose not... but I think I am very lucky, people in my little world are generally quite kind. That might be an awareness thing with me..!! Pollyanna comes to mind... :)

Re:
Hi Jimmy, welcome to my blog... nice to see you here for the first time. Talking this through with a friend in our small prayer group yesterday she called it a 'God-incidence'. I knew about the funeral but had forgotten, and hadn't in any case planned to go. It wasn't someone I had actually spoken to but knew through indirectly as part of the church community
I think I was put there to help an old man find his way there, and so pay his respects to someone he knew quite well and cared for.... he'd driven quite some way, and I remembered that the deceased had worked as an administrator for the gentleman's church before he became ill, so he was after all a welcome guest. I was glad to be able to help him get there.

Absolutely. And as my wife always says, things happen for a reason. I suppose you were meant to learn of the passing of that individual. Serendipity follows my wife and I around all the time! I could go on and on and on about certain "coincidences" we have experienced over the years!

I like neighborliness. One doesn't find a lot of that these days.
